Primary Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform NETA electrical maintenance and acceptance testing tasks.
  • Test both digital and mechanical relays
  • Troubleshoot emergency and non-emergency electrical problems.

 

Secondary Roles & Responsibilities when there is not Client Jobs to do

  • Assist in Project Management including work order, creating field files, purchases, research, coordination
  • Closing projects by addressing any punch lists, additional scope, additional quotes.
  • Take client calls 24 hours a day for emergency support
  • Assist in completing testing reports.

  • NETA III or higher certification
  • Trained with SEL relays

  • Strong network connections with electrical contractors, utility companies, and large power users.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.  AutoCAD proficiency is a plus.

SCCS Electrical Project Engineer

Tasks and Activities: Produce & deliver with sense-of-urgency quotes.  This will include some or all the following activities: attending on-site meetings, participating in walkthroughs, and communicating with necessary parties to collect all the necessary data to estimate the correct time and other costs to deliver an accurate quote.

Accountability: Repeat customer requests

Key Result Area #2Complete the Request for Information (RFI) to Perform Studies

Tasks and Activities: Persistent pursuit of information to keep the project on schedule.  This includes reviewing what is available from existing documentation, generating the RFIs, frequent communication by phone, email, and text to the client to collect the information, provide, when necessary, the instructions for collecting information, (An online video is available) and in some cases, going on site with a qualified person to collect the information.

Accountability: Project remain on schedule

Key Result Area # 3 Produce engineering studies using SKM

Tasks and Activities: Produce engineering studies to UISE standards.  This would include modeling the power system, conducting the necessary short circuit analysis, protective device coordination, arc flash, and shock hazard analysis, formatting the results, and providing recommendations to remedy power system deficiencies.

Accountability: Reports require less than 30 minutes to review by the Sr. Engineer.

Other Responsibilities

  • Follows and maintains the UISE studies production process from quote to client payment
  • Effectively manages the client’s expectations

Qualifications, Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Familiar with electrical drawings (specifically one-lines, riser diagrams, and panel schedules)
  • Performed at least 50 short circuit, protective device coordination, or arc flash analysis studies
  • Proficiency with SKM PowerTools© and AutoCAD
  • Efficiency with Microsoft Products
  • Must be authorized to work in the United State and near-native / fluent English speaker
  • Must be a licensed engineer in Michigan

Preferred Skills

  • Additional licenses in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois

  • Work with clients to design SCADA systems, including telemetry

Qualifications, Experience and Education Requirements

  • Engineering Degree or Technical Degree with a proven record in PLC/HMI programming and Project Management
  • Proven experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs and/or Motorola ACE3600 RTUs
  • SCADA HMI programming with at least one of the following platforms: Wonderware, Rockwell, or VT-SCADA
  • Proven track record working with people both inside and outside the company
  • Able to read, interpret, troubleshoot electrical drawings and controls
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with Municipal Water and Wastewater applications
